On June 15th, Denton Poets’ Assembly members and guests met and shared two free choice poems. Our poetry sage and mentor, J. Paul Holcomb presented a lesson on writing Spoon River poems.
Denton Poets' Assembly members Beth Honeycutt, Jan Spence, Annie Neugebauer, Karona Drummond and Angie Kimmel made presentations and read their poems at the Poetry Society of Texas Summer Conference, July 12-13 in Richardson, Texas. Patrick Marshall of DPA spearheaded conference planning. This was a great event, and DPA made major contributions to its success.
Our next Denton Poets’ Assembly meeting will be held Saturday, July 20th. Members will read their Spoon River poetry assignments and J. Paul Holcomb will present a lesson on the ballad form.
Denton Poets’ Assembly meets on the third Saturday of the month, 10AM - Noon at the Emily Fowler Central Library, 502 Oakland Street, Denton, TX 76201. Free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome. For more information, visit www.DentonPoetsAssembly.weebly.com
