Denton Poets' Assembly will meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 20th at the Emily Fowler Public Library in Denton, Texas.

DPA members have good reason to celebrate our success in hosting the PST Summer Conference during July 11 – 13th.

Kudos to Richard Kushmaul and the rest of the PST 50th Annual Summer Conference Committee for all the planning and execution that went into making it all happen.

Our spotlight poet is Marjorie Chesebro. Marjorie will give her reading immediately after our opening discussion.

During our Read & Response session poets will read a response to one of the July Pot Pourri poems from the packet sent out by Susan Maxwell Campbell.  She will present an activity centered on songs by Simon & Garfunkel.

Members and guests will share free choice poems following the break.

On July 10th DPA members had the pleasure of attending a Nathan Brown session. Finding Your Voice(s): Writing Outside Yourself  ~ A Poetry MasterClass ~ with poet/singer-songwriter Nathan Brown

Finding Your Voice(s): Writing Outside Yourself

~ A Poetry MasterClass ~ with poet/singer-songwriter Nathan Brown

We often hear the phrase “finding your voice” in writing circles. In this workshop, Nathan proposes that poets, in particular, should seek out and work with many different “voices”—tones, dialects, characters, and personas. Good poems will often employ dialogue (two, even three voices) in order to convey a more powerful message. So join us as we explore bringing into our verses the “others” who live inside, around, and with us.

You must register to attend; only 24 places are available.
Course cost is $60. Contact Richard Kushmaul for availability.
