Rebecca Hines will share forms and encouragement for those wishing to participate in Merging Visions Collections VII to be held next spring. Opportunities still exist for poets to pair with VAST artists.
For the September assignment, members will read Spoon River poems based on J. Paul Holcomb’s lesson regarding Edgar Lee Masters Anthology on the subject.
J. Paul will out of town, however, he invited Susan Maxwell Campbell to make a presentation to our members. Susan is the winner of the 2015 PST Edwin M. Eakin Memorial Book Award. She will speak on Exphrasis poetry.
Susan Maxwell Campbell grew up in Dallas and has degrees in French from the University of Colorado and Texas Tech University and in creative writing from the University of North Texas, where she received the University Writing Award for Graduate Poetry in 2006. Her work has appeared in Christian Century, English in Texas, North Texas Review, Ancient Paths, Snowy Egret, Borderlands, and other publications; her work has been nominated for a Pushcart award. She has written liturgy for worship services for two Presbyterian congregations. Susan serves as secretary of the Fort Worth Poetry Society and as a director on the board of the Poetry Society of Texas. She is retired from teaching in public schools and lives in Mansfield, Texas.
Following Susan's presentation, members and guests will read free-choice poems.
